Dear Families, Friends and
Supporters of Children with CHARGE,
As we quickly
approach our 4th Annual CHARGE Retreat to be held
October 23 & 24, 2009 at Camp Allen Retreat and
Conference Center, in beautiful historic Navasota,
Grimes County, we look with anticipation and
excitement to preparations for making this the
biggest and best retreat to date. We are confident
that this retreat will offer some of the nicest
amenities and most spectacular surroundings but more
importantly a place where our children, families and
volunteers can share quality time together. For
those of you, who are not familiar with Camp Allen,
please visit their website at
www.campallen.org.
CHARGE syndrome
is a recognizable (genetic) pattern of birth defects
which occurs in about one in every 9-10,000 births
worldwide. It is an extremely complex syndrome,
involving extensive medical and physical
difficulties that differ from child to child. These
differences in physical difficulties make each child
unique and special. CHARGE syndrome is also the
number one leading syndrome of deaf/blindness in the
U.S.A. and has grown over 700% in the last 15 years.
As you can
imagine, an undertaking of this magnitude requires
lots of planning and the help of those very special
people who are always so willing to give freely of
their time and energy. Volunteers will be the
backbone for the retreat’s success. We have planned
lots of organized activities for not only our CHARGE
children but also their siblings to ensure that
everyone’s Camp Allen experience is a fun one. That
special spirit of volunteerism will be critical to
make this endeavor a successful one.
If you as an
individual or as an organization would be available
to make a special contribution to the lives of these
families and children, we would be most honored to
have you join us as a volunteer.
We will need
your help with registration, activities, child care
of siblings of CHARGERS, and CHARGERS themselves, as
well as many other positions to help make this
retreat a successful event. We will make special
arrangements for those willing to work with the
CHARGE kids.
If you are
interested in helping families of CHARGE make this
weekend a weekend of exciting memories and
fellowship please complete the attached volunteer
application and forward to Josh Fultz at 303 Moore
St, Navasota, Texas 77868 or fax to 936 825 1988.
If you would feel more comfortable as a monetary
volunteer please send your donation to Cathy
Springer 2718 Loyaga Dr, Round Rock, Texas 78681.
Thank you.
